Meet the Team: QLer Milan Loveless

A self-proclaimed math/science nerd, artist, Web developer and graphics programmer, Milan Loveless can add QLer to his long list of attributes. Originally from Burlington, Vermont, Milan moved to Portland in 2009. In 2012, he graduated from the Art Institute of Portland with a BFA in Video Game Art & Design. Soon after he began working in Web development, mastering Node.js, Ruby, and C++. In his free time he enjoys going on bike rides, hiking, playing board games and folding origami models. Milan injects his creative energy into his work and life. As an active member of the Portland tech community, he volunteers his time and skill to noteworthy causes regularly. 1. Q. What songs are included on the soundtrack to your life?
A. A bunch of punk, metal, and industrial with a splash of hip hop.
 
2. Q. What is one of your favorite quotes?
A. “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, Nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” -The Lorax, by Dr. Seuss
 
3. Q. If you were to star in a reality TV Show, what would it be called?
A. The Typist. It would just be me typing at a keyboard all day, every day. I would occasionally get up for coffee.
 
4. Q. What is your favorite form of exercise?
A. Biking!
 
5. Q. Favorite place in all the world? Why?
A. Cinque Terre in Italy is pretty relaxed and beautiful. Besides, who can say no to all that incredible food!?
 
6. Q. What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done?
A. I taught myself Linear Algebra, Calculus, and C++ so I could write a ray tracer.
 
7. Q. If you could sing one song absolutely flawlessly, what song would it be?
A. Rain Dogs by Tom Waits.
 
8. Q. If you had coined a phrase of wisdom, what would it be?
A. “The reason it is important to be a kind and compassionate person is because you can be.” I think my dad told me that one.
 
9. Q. If you could give your 10-year old self one piece of advice, what would it be?
A. I would shake my head and wish him luck.
 
10. Q. The best part of waking up is…?
A. Having another 16 hours to work on projects!
