The QL UX Flavor: Variations on a Theme of Chocolate

Back when I was planning the company grocery list for the new office space, I had chocolate high up on the list of offerings for the conference rooms. Why? Because when endorphins are released in the brain, everything feels comfortable, perhaps even a bit more euphoric. It's the perfect offering to put meetings at ease - and increase the flow of creative juices in the web and app development process.
So what happens when the chocolate-loving Operations Manager meets a Chocolatier at Quick Left's Office Warming Party last November? Quick Left gets a signature label on Nathan Miller's signature chocolates.
It all started when I asked Nathan if he could make a scotch-nuanced chocolate bar for Quick Left, knowing that Johnny Walker was among the most revered celebratory beverages among a handful of QL'ers. After piquing his curiosity, Nathan set out to find a way to bring this taste to life wrapped in a custom label. It was a pet project affectionately named " Project Ron Burgundy." (Imagine, if you will, for just a moment, the crisp snap of a chocolate bar with a scotch reduction running through it.)
While that idea was undergoing research and development, the first shipment of Nathan's signature blend bars arrived at the office in time for the holiday season. These were shared with new clients, friends, employees and sent out as gifts of congratulations and thanks for projects proudly launched.
It didn’t take too long for that first stash to run out. Zane worked with Nathan to come up with a custom flavor (tart cherry & pretzel) for the new bar (inspired by Zane's favorite ice creams: Chubby Hubby and Cherry Garcia) which also came with a custom wrapper flaunting our brand. They fast became a favorite among clients:
"In just a few weeks, we had a web-based prototype that has functionality beyond what we originally envisioned, and has given us a tool to convey to our customers and investors the look/feel of a finished product. More importantly, we were treated to a chocolate bar that was truly heaven on earth." - Chocolate Loving Client
We like to think of it as part of the Quick Left User Experience.
Nathan (@NMchocolate), whose chocolates you may have tasted at The Kitchen Cafe, makes his artisanal creations in inspired flavors as well as the simplest: a good old fashion chocolate bar. He’ll blend different types of chocolate and salts to come up with balanced chocolate flavors to match the ingredients tucked inside his specialty bars. We are stoked to pair with him in his exclusive custom chocolates, and look forward to developing the flavors of Quick Left.
